About Bethlehem Lutheran Church
History
Chartered in 1895 by Norweigans, Bethlehem Lutheran Church was originally named "Den Norske Evangeliske Luterske Menighed av Flathead." The original building was located at 5th Avenue West and 4th Street on the "outskirts of town." In 1932, during the Depression, the cornerstone was laid for a new building on Main Street. This building, our current home, was dedicated in 1937. Over the years other buildings, property and renovations have been added to expand Bethlehem's ministry.
Outreach
Bethlehem has a long history of reaching out to our local and global community with financial, physical and prayerful support. Over the years we have supported the development and ministry of Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, Immanuel Lutheran Corporation and many of our local Lutheran churches. In our local community we support the work of Neighbors in Need, the Flathead FoodBank and Samaritan House. We continue to support the Maasai Lutheran Girls' Secondary School and other Lutheran ministries in Tanzania. Through donations of quilts, school kits, health kits and financial donations we support the work of Lutheran World Relief and ELCA World Hunger ministries.
